New Front Door

When we first found this house, there were very few things I didn't like about its features. One of them was the door. I loved how big it was, but I didn't like the gold etched glass.

It since started to warp (from the heat) and break down. The glass was slipping. Glue was showing. The green trim was discolored, and when our front storm door shattered into a million pieces thanks to a weed eater, I decided it was time to replace the whole thing.

We shopped around a lot, and I changed my mind a lot, but I could not be happier with how it turned out. I wanted to notice the change. I didn't just want a slight update. I think that mission was accomplished!

Here are the befores and afters!

Super Bowl Champions!!

Three games later, and Beau's team was crowned the 6th grade Goddard Super Bowl Champions!

Today's game was only won with a 6-0 score, but a win, nonetheless. Super cold weekend in comparison to the 90 degree previous weekend. Today was extremely windy, so the elements aside, Beau's team came together and won!

Next weekend takes us to Kansas City!

His team. And yea, Beau's head is the one behind the little blond guy wearing #1.  Couldn't have been in the front!

Wind in his face, he was still happy!

And this is his #1 fan!!!

Of course, the two pictures I took of them together- neither were good. So posting this anyway!

Halloween 2014

First year that my boy didn't dress up.  He was more excited about the rival high school football game than dressing up for candy.  Oh well.

Sister didn't disappoint and netierh did the cute kids that came to the door for candy.  Not nearly as many as last year.  I think having it on a Friday night with the big game going on AND it was super cold.....may have deterred some kids.

Oh well.  Here is Bren at her school party.  I present to you.... The Artist.  Her natural talent - so she says.

She had a great time "painting" her friends' faces.  Lots of smiles and giggles.

And  here we are before she goes out for the candy hunt!  I love her, I love her imagination and I love her artistic talent!

Beau

Beau and Brian got to catch a preseason OKC Thunder game last Friday night. While a lot of his favorites were not in action, I think he still had a good time!

 His view from their seats.

Last Saturday he played football in Newton and Beau was the captain AGAIN!! Today we played in Derby and he was the captain AGAIN - making it four weeks in a row! He says his strategy is to hang back when the coach asks who wants to be captain and then his other strategy is to not raise his hand. Um, okay?! Works for us! We are proud of him as he and his team finished the season 8-0 ending with a shutout today. Beau even got to run the ball today and rushed for 6 yards!

Next two weekends are two tournaments and then we get our early Fall Saturday's back (next year) unless Bren decides she wants to play in the sports world!

This pic below is from today - our hottest game of the year. Sooooo hot!!!

Little bit of this. Little bit of that.

Here it is and October is half over. Are you kidding me?

Let's see... We've had the kids school conferences. Each of those went great. We are certainly proud and blessed parents.  This is Bren outside of her classroom and in front of her artwork.

Beau has had more football games. Here are all his Grandparents watching our center in action.

He was captain two weeks in a row. The team is also wearing Pink to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness.   This is week 1 of him being captain.

This is a great sequence of him snapping the ball.

And here he is getting ready to ring the bell after another VICTORY!

Now on to his last home game for Maize Black. It hit me (harder than I thought) that this would likely be the last time ever playing on this field as a Maize Eagle since we 1) hope he stays at Maize South for HS and 2) he actually goes out and makes the football team(s). Little sad by that realization. I love watching that kid play football. He is tougher and stronger than he realizes. And here are some pic's of his last Home Game. Captain again. I love that they go out holding hands.

Coach getting the boys fired up before the game! Beau said he doesn't like this part. I love it.

And now the run through!

And the chest bump with his best bud, Keaton.

And he took a turn bumping big guy Dom.

Action shot of him snapping.  My lefty one handed snapper.

Game over. Another win.

Oh yeah. And our Daddy celebrated his 39th birthday!!! Happy Birthday to my beloved.  Sister loved helping Daddy read cards and open presents.  This was a morning shot.

And this was an evening shot.

And this is what Beau posted on his Instagram account for his Dad's birthday. My babies love their Daddy.

I think that gets us pretty much caught up to the mid point of the month. Whew.

I think a lot about what I could write in my blog, but usually I am always driving when I think about these things.  Tonight as I was driving home with the two kids in the car (Dad was on his own in his truck), they started singing at the top of their lungs to some pop song.  And I thought to myself.... I hope I always keep the memory of my two kids being so happy with their Mom, singing, and being so care free.  When we get a good song on the radio, I'll hear this..... "Mom, let's take the long way home.  Or Mom, make a lap before we go home."  Simple things make my heart so happy.
