Memorial Day Weekend

It's been a very relaxing weekend with the family. On Sunday, we found ourselves at the Zoo for the first time this year. The new exhibit was the Tigers, and it was really cool. Lots of babies born this winter. We saw baby Lion cubs and a baby giraffe. So cute. It was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed being together. I think the kids had fun too!

Beau Charles Grant - big week

Big week for my big boy. Monday night he played T-Ball against the Mustangs (all girl team, so cute). The boys ended up squeaking one out at the end and all played really well.

Tuesday night was a big celebration. Beau had his K5 promotion ceremony into the 1st grade. It was at Northwest Christian Church (Beau went to a private Christian school for all day Kindergarten this year). It was the best little program. It started off with Beau and a solo to "One Small Voice." Then they sang two more songs, were presented with their awards, then diploma, followed by a slide show of their past 5 years (there were 14 kids in the class, so just perfect little video presentation).

Let me back up a minute... the awards were more like personality awards, and Beau was presented with Mr. Future Olympian. His Dad didn't mind that one at all! And one of the pictures we submitted for the slide show was Beau hooked up to monitors in the NICU when he was born. Man, has our preemie come a long way. Both Brian and I shed a tear on that one.
The program ended with a rendition of New York, New York, but it was replaced with 1st grade, 1st grade. He wasn't sure quite what to think of the black top hat and kicking his legs, but it was so great, nonetheless.

We came back home and celebrated with cake, ice cream, and a few presents with both sets of grandparents and Beau's Uncle Kyle and Aunt Kate. It was a perfect evening.

Thursday night Beau had another T-ball game. Focus wasn't quite there from the boys and we ended up losing our first game. Now mind you........we DON'T keep score. So you ask......well, how do you know if you won or lost? Oh believe me, those boys know if the inning ends on 3 outs or if the other team scores 5 runs to end the inning. And they knew they never ended the inning by getting 3 outs on the other team. Smart boys.

So we are looking forward to some down time this weekend. Today is errands and chore day. Tomorrow I am sure will be the zoo. Monday, who knows.

It has been quite a week as we have brought school to a close and it was time to say good-bye to some of his good friends. Beau will stay at Northridge Academy this summer and every day be entertained by field trips or someone or thing coming to the school. It will be so much fun for him. His class will be made up of some new kids, so I think he will enjoy that also. He will continue to play T-Ball through July. And we are going to try to find him some private swim lessons to get him over his fear of the water.

We will enroll him in public school in the Maize school system the first of August (few days before he turns 6). Since he didn't start public school in kindergarten, then he is treated as an "new student" that has to wait for open enrollment. So we won't know which elementary school he will go too, but we are just praying we are making the right decision for him by starting him in 1st grade at a relatively young age compared to his other friends.

Sniff, sniff........where did the time go? My baby is in 1st grade? Say it isn't so............
Beau Grant, we are so proud of you. You did awesome this year. You learned so much, grew up a lot, and we enjoyed every minute of it with you. Love, Mom and Dad.

Second week of May

Busy week last week.........

Beau, Brenley and Brian went to McPherson last Saturday to celebrate Mother's Day with Brian's Mom as well as wish both his parents a Happy Birthday as each of them had a birthday this past week. It was the big 6-0! And we look forward to a party at the end of the month to celebrate them in style.

Kids went to a petting zoo that was being held in town and loved it.

We also celebrated my Dad's birthday on the 11th, and Beau had a game that same night.
x
Wednesday night we headed to the Wichita River Festival, as Brian had volunteer duties at his company's booth. It was a beautiful evening, especially with Eli Young and Pat Green playing in concert!

This weekend the kids and I went to Oklahoma to celebrate Mother's Day with my Mom and my Dad's birthday. The Stillwater girls came down and we just had a great day and night.

Here is to another busy week with T-ball games and Beau's promotion ceremony into 1st grade! More to come soon..............

Brenley - 15 months

My girl, Bren. Love that big, beautiful 15 month old. She's been walking a little less than 3 weeks. And well, the walk has rapidly turned into a running sprint. She gets everywhere so quickly. She can go up and down stairs. She does it oh so carefuly. She can get off couches and chairs by herself. She is a woman on the move!
Here is a list of her other firsts this month:
1 - She can blow kisses. Her Me Ma taught her how to do that.
2 - She wrinkles her nose and puts her hand on her nose when we change her diaper and tell her she is "stinky!"
3 - She furrows her brow when she is mad. Now that is funny. Looks just like my niece Courtney did around that same age.
4 - When you tell her we need to change her butt and wave the diaper in the air, she immediately lays down on the floor so you can change her.
5 - She acts like she is landing planes when she is finished eating. She waves her arms wildly in the air and says......."Ah dun."
6 - I've stopped counting how many teeth she has. She has gotten maybe 3 teeth this month, at least. Big ones. They are toward the back and harder to see, but she has been working on them for several weeks. I think the worst part is over for her - for now.
And drop off at daycare has gotten so much better. It's taken her awhile, but she seems to finally be used to the new room and people.
She is such a joy. Big, infectious laugh when you find her tickle spots - and she has a lot of them!! She loves her brother and the feeling is mutual. She is just wonderful, sweet, ornery and so beautiful. We are all head over heels for this one.

T-Ball Season 2009

It's official. The season has begun! Rained out our first official night, we were able to t-off Wednesday night at 7:30. That's a little late for a one year old, but we made it, and even hit the ice cream shop on the way. We had to celebrate, you know?!

Beau Grant did excellent. Wow, what a difference a year makes. His whole team (essentially the same team as last year) did so great. They played a younger team, but instead of letting the other team score 5 runs on them to end the inning, they got their 3 outs first. It was awesome. Beau played right field for the first few innings, then shortstop, then third, and finally I think he whined a bit to coach to let him play catcher, and coach gave in. Beau got a little lesson on the ride home about not whining, but all in all, he did super and hit the ball so hard! Here is our little left handed ace (and his Dad, one of the coaches). I mean how cute are my boys?!?!!?
