Beau Charles Grant - big week

Big week for my big boy. Monday night he played T-Ball against the Mustangs (all girl team, so cute). The boys ended up squeaking one out at the end and all played really well.

Tuesday night was a big celebration. Beau had his K5 promotion ceremony into the 1st grade. It was at Northwest Christian Church (Beau went to a private Christian school for all day Kindergarten this year). It was the best little program. It started off with Beau and a solo to "One Small Voice." Then they sang two more songs, were presented with their awards, then diploma, followed by a slide show of their past 5 years (there were 14 kids in the class, so just perfect little video presentation).

Let me back up a minute... the awards were more like personality awards, and Beau was presented with Mr. Future Olympian. His Dad didn't mind that one at all! And one of the pictures we submitted for the slide show was Beau hooked up to monitors in the NICU when he was born. Man, has our preemie come a long way. Both Brian and I shed a tear on that one.
The program ended with a rendition of New York, New York, but it was replaced with 1st grade, 1st grade. He wasn't sure quite what to think of the black top hat and kicking his legs, but it was so great, nonetheless.

We came back home and celebrated with cake, ice cream, and a few presents with both sets of grandparents and Beau's Uncle Kyle and Aunt Kate. It was a perfect evening.

Thursday night Beau had another T-ball game. Focus wasn't quite there from the boys and we ended up losing our first game. Now mind you........we DON'T keep score. So you ask......well, how do you know if you won or lost? Oh believe me, those boys know if the inning ends on 3 outs or if the other team scores 5 runs to end the inning. And they knew they never ended the inning by getting 3 outs on the other team. Smart boys.

So we are looking forward to some down time this weekend. Today is errands and chore day. Tomorrow I am sure will be the zoo. Monday, who knows.

It has been quite a week as we have brought school to a close and it was time to say good-bye to some of his good friends. Beau will stay at Northridge Academy this summer and every day be entertained by field trips or someone or thing coming to the school. It will be so much fun for him. His class will be made up of some new kids, so I think he will enjoy that also. He will continue to play T-Ball through July. And we are going to try to find him some private swim lessons to get him over his fear of the water.

We will enroll him in public school in the Maize school system the first of August (few days before he turns 6). Since he didn't start public school in kindergarten, then he is treated as an "new student" that has to wait for open enrollment. So we won't know which elementary school he will go too, but we are just praying we are making the right decision for him by starting him in 1st grade at a relatively young age compared to his other friends.

Sniff, sniff........where did the time go? My baby is in 1st grade? Say it isn't so............
Beau Grant, we are so proud of you. You did awesome this year. You learned so much, grew up a lot, and we enjoyed every minute of it with you. Love, Mom and Dad.
