Football Tournaments and End of the Season

Well, we have wrapped up Beau's 5th Grade Football season. He ended it with a tournament in Lawrence, Kansas and his team won their division.  We only played two games, but the team did very well. I was so proud of Beau and his teammates. They finished the season 10-1 (I think).  Their only loss came in their league bowl tournament championship game.  Beau played center in an shotgun offense. His snaps were on point all year.  He also got in at several defensive positions off and on.  I love when he got to play both sides of the ball. I throughly enjoyed watching him this year.  And a huge shout out to my awesome husband who diligently got him to practice 3-4 nights a week depending on the schedule. Lots of work, but definitely worth it.

I love this shot.  This is before their championship bowl game.

Second place. Oh well. Great season, regardless.

Getting told to come off the ball quick and hit someone after the snap. Common and reoccurring discussion this season.

What play, Coach?

Not sure I am ready for November.  I am going to be so busy this month. I get tired just thinking about it. But time marches on, doesn't it?  Bring on November with football to wrap up, basketball to start, travel, travel,  travel, and of course, the start of the holidays!!!

And the beauty of the day after Halloween - CLEARANCE COSTUMES FOR CHEAP!!  Great way to play dress up for the girl that has a Wild Imagination. Meet Little Red Riding Hood!

Halloween 2013

Seems like we start planning Halloween costumes as early as September.  This year was surprisingly easy because the kids knew what they wanted to be. Beau wanted to be Kevin Durant, his favorite NBA basketball player. And Sister wanted to be a super girl.  Okay.

So from there, the kids had fun Halloween parties at school, and enjoyed the evening out trick or treating. It had been rainy earlier in the day, but the evening turned out perfect.

Here they are in their costume glory.

Mom made the hair thing. Had too.

And this was a throwback to the Halloween when the family dressed up as  an OSU Cheerleader, Football Player, Coach, and Fan. Ahhh…the days….when Mom could still manipulate the costume choices.

Last home football game for Beau

I suppose if I have to miss yet another Homecoming football game with my Cowboys, it would be because I have a more important event to watch. My boy playing in his last home football game.

I am really enjoying watching Beau's football games this year.  It helps they are undefeated this year, but the best part is how much the game has clicked with each of these boys this year. It is essentially the same team as last year with the same coaches, but things are definitely moving along well this year for them.  It also seems like Beau really understands the game this year. Not only his own game, but he is into college and NFL more this year than ever before. My babe is growing up, I suppose.

Anyway, he has primiarly been center, but he does get in on defense from time to time, and I really like when he gets in on defense. Today he played noseguard.  He played so well today.  Helped block a field goal attempt.  Received an on-side kick (fell on the ball, but hey - that's pretty much what they all do), and cause a fumble.  I'd say job well done.  And now the boys are 7-0 with one more regular season game to go, and two tournaments. The end is in sight  - thankfully - because night time practices are getting SHORT with daylight savings looming around the corner.

So in the pictures....remember to look for #31! The center or noseguard.
