Week 1

So the challenge was accepted last week, and I am trying to tell as many people as possible so everyone can hold us responsible.  It takes a village, right?

We issued a challenge to Beau that started on Monday. If he would complete Couch to 5K with me this summer, read two books, and limit his coveted "desserts" this summer, then he would get a dog before his 10th birthday.  Or should I say, "we" get a dog.  And he accepted the challenge. I knew he wanted a dog, but honestly, I wasn't quite sure it was a strong enough will to want to go outside and run three times a day.

But so far.....week 1 is in the books.  Week 1 consists of a lot more walking than running, but so far, he has done great. I am proud of him.  Wish us luck as we go through this journey this summer. We are going to need it, but we hope to come out of it healthier and with a PUPPY!!!

Our first night of running. In the rain. Wish it rained every night to keep us cool!!

Oklahoma Strong

It has been hard to process all of this devastation from the tornado's in Oklahoma recently. It makes me sad for so many families in my home state.  It has had me worried for my family's safety.  It has made me think,  "what would we do if one of those displaced families was us?"  Could I be that strong?  Then I think, "what if I had been in my car stuck in the middle of those storms?"  Would I have known what to do?

It definitely has struck close to home, knowing many people who lost barns and animals, even as recently as last night.  I have had so many accounts that have stepped up to help displaced animals, or families. Even my company has stepped in and donated boots, clothes, socks, and money.  It is great to be a part of a giving organization.

Still, though, I wish I could do more.  Today as Beau was complaining about spending time with us running errands, we had a gentle talk with him that we are very fortunate to be together, with a roof over our head, and knowing tonight where we are going to lay our heads - in the comfort of our very own bed.

Anyway. We continue to pray for the great state of Oklahoma. #healOK  #oklahomastrong

Tap & Tumble Recital

Bren has been participating in Tap & Tumble as a part of Northridge Academy. I had enrolled her in Dance this year, and it is important to note..... I never get to see her perform...... until now.  They had an end of the year recital, and here she is in all her glory, dancing away. I was SO PROUD of how well she did. Full audience, and she danced and shook her booty like she was supposed too.

The video doesn't want to upload, so I'll have to keep working on that. It is really good. I hope I can figure it out!

Beau's last day of 4th Grade

My big boy is now a 5th grader. Wow. That is hard to wrap my head around.  Here is the first day of school and the second picture is the last day of school.

He made this white shirt as part of a school project, so they were all going to sign their shirts on the last day of school. It was also hat day if you brought 50 cents to donate to Red Cross (more on that to come in another post).

So here he is, in all his glory.  He did well this year.  A's and B's. He struggles a bit in math.  He has some focus problems, and we uncovered that he didn't always bring home some of his worst papers, so we got that under control, but it meant we missed a few assignments that we could have helped with earlier if we had known.  We love him and are so proud of him.

Look how beautifully tan he is.

Brenley's Promotion Ceremony from Pre-K to K!

It's official!  My "baby" is now in kindergarten. Where does the time go?  To be a helicopter parent just a while longer, she'll stay in private school one more year before I throw here into the public school system. One more year of walking her into her classroom, getting to kiss her goodbye in front of friends, knowing her schedule intimately, and picking her up each evening anxiously awaiting to hear about her glorious "busy" day. "Busy" is the new word of the day.  She is always "busy" she says.  I.must.stop.using.that.word.

But here is my beauty, on the night of her promotion ceremony. She was handed the "Google" Award for her ability to always know the answer and be able to rattle off a definition to a word in no time flat.  She starts out many a sentence with, "Hey Mom, do you know what a (((fill in the blank))) is?" Then I will reply, "No, baby, I don't, will you tell me?"  Not going to lie......several times Beau and I both didn't know the answers to her own question, but she always did.

I love this beautiful, stubborn, smart, and busy girl.

Mother's Day

I had a special Mother's Day weekend. I got to see my Momma and Dad, which is always a bonus.  I was spoiled with awesome homemade gifts from my kiddo's, packed with extra hugs and kisses. I was served breakfast in bed with my favorite Panera breakfast. And I got loads of flowers and cards.

Happy, happy, happy Momma!!!

Like Father, Like Son

Baseball has already begun, but I didn't get the traditional father and son picture taken. So here are my boys ready to play. Go Tigers!
