Kansas State Fair!

This made it our 4th annual trip to the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, KS. Not sure what we look forward too the most..........the rides, the animals or the fried food on a stick!!

We got around this morning and hit the road hoping to enjoy the fair before it got really hot this afternoon. And it was really nice this morning walking around. Here are some highlights of our great family day.

Started off our day right by sitting on Daddy's tractors!

And not to be outdone by her brother............lil miss had to have her turn!
Looking at the animals.  There was a similar picture taken of me by the Enid newspaper......oh, probably 30 years ago. It showed up in the paper. Her pointing to the animals reminds me of that picture. I love that she loves the animals.
I had to bribe him to do this for me!
Let the games begin!
Meeting new friends
Our favorite slide. Note Beau in the lower part of the picture and Dad and Bren following. Bren LOVED it!

And now we rest. Fun family Sunday!!!!
PS. That is Brenley's new puppy, Scooby. Her Daddy won it for her today at the fair. Awwww....

Are you ready for some football!?!!?!?!

Second grade, Wolverine tackle football, anyone?

We were ready...........Saturday morning, 8:30AM! It was an early morning but the boys were ready to face the Colts.  Lemme just be a Mom and say how freakin' cute these little boys were all geared out!

Beau played offense most of the game - Left Defensive Guard ( I think). It's sooooo hard for me to find my own son on the field.  I'm just terrible at it. I have to improve. Their jersey's are white with gold numbers, so that's not helping me. But I vow to get better. Right now I just look up at Brian and ask............did he do okay? ha ha

But he did do really well at the game. He even had black marks on his white jersey indicating that he definitely made some contact on several plays.

The boys looked tough, but I don't care how tough they looked.....the overriding theme was........they were just so stinkin cute!  They looked like little boys playing dress up!  Shhh....don't tell Beau I said that!
Getting warmed up. Or running off extra energy. Hard to tell.
Stretching it out -  pre game.
More warm-up's. But how cool do these boys look?
Getting pumped up for the game by the coaches!
This should be a framed picture. Cute.
That's our guy - #34, Beau Grant.
Oh yeah............all smiles because we WON!!!  20-6 Wolverines defeated the Colts. Three touchdowns, and one safety. Not a bad way to spend the morning. Guess those 3 times a week practices (in the heat - ugh!) paid off!
And as a special treat, his Dad and Uncle took him to Blacktop Nationals car show. What a little stud! Big day.

Luke's 2nd Birthday

Lucas Cooper Grant is 2 - and still cute as ever!  Fun evening celebrating his birthday with family on Saturday, August 21st. He's a ball of fire. Good luck to his mama and daddy keeping up with him!

Here are some cute pic's of the evening. This first one is his new stick horse!  Every boy has to have one!

This is Luke wanting to cut the cake!  Typical two year old wanting to do it himself!

Did he just eat someone or was he diving into the Red Velvet cake his mama made him?
His Dad hosing the blood.......err..........cake off his hands and face.
Let the fun begin with cousin Bren!  Whoo Hooo! Beep Beep!
Isn't this a beautiful picture of baby brother Will? Such a pretty boy!
This is another one of my favorite shots of the night. Beau with Grandma and Grandpa.
This is Beau and his future prom date. Awwwww
And finally, another favorite picture of the birthday boy Luke with his Godfather and Godmother. My my, where does the time go? Happy Birthday, buddy!

1st Day of School!!

Tell me it gets easier from here?!  Surely it does, right?  We sent Beau off to 2nd grade at Maize South Elementary school this morning. We dropped him off at Northridge Academy and then he road the bus to school.  There was some fear in his eyes as he sat on that bus (mostly b/c he goes to school with older kids now - last year it was only a K-1 school). And of course I prayed ALL the way to work for strength and courage for him....and boy, was I ready for 5:00 so I could race home to see him!

And he had a good day. Got a little lost trying to lcoate his classroom once he got off the bus, but he made it just fine. He sure did look cute. He knows a few of the kids. Told me his teacher was nice. Recess was a lot of fun. Lunch is really late. And those are the highlights...pretty much in that order.

Brenley also dressed the part for her first day of school. Same room, but different teacher.  She had her supplies to take also.  So we snapped some cute pictures of our cutie pies..........and now the day is almost over. We all survived!  Whew!  Prayers were answered. Thank you Lord for letting my babies have a happy and safe day. Here is to an even better 2010-2011 school year (and a little girl that gets potty trained!). ha ha

End of Summer (Baseball) & Day Before School Starts

Tonight we went to the Westurban Baseball Awards Ceremony. Beau's 6 year old team tied for 1st in their division!  Yeah. How exciting!  It was a fun year.

And now our attention turns to school tomorrow. Brenley starts with a new teacher (same room), and Beau moves on to Maize South Elementary School as a 2nd grader. We met his teacher last Tuesday night.......Ms. Catron. She has been teaching for over 25 years.  He knows some of the kids in his class already, and knows a teacher down his same hall. And he'll ride to school on the bus that picks him up at Northridge, so he is sure to know some kids on the bus. Big day for him, and bigger day for Mom. I'll be a nervous wreck all day to rush home to get him after school and this is what I'll get from him when I ask 20 questions.........."I don't remember. It was fine. I don't know." Ah well. The beauty of having a boy, I guess.

Stay tuned for 1st day of school pictures. I bribed him to wear a certain shirt. We'll see if Mom gets her way. hee hee

Beau's 7th Birthday (Weekend!)

I'm still having a hard time believing my little preemie boy that came into this world a whopping 4 pounds 11 ounces and spent 2 weeks in the NICU is now  - 7 years later - a strapping 66 pounds and 51 1/2" tall!!  He is solid as a rock, with a very soft, kind, and gentle heart.

Before I begin on his birthday weekend, let me mention a few things about this summer that really make me proud to be his Mom.....I asked him at the beginning of this summer to do 3 things (cause I'm all about setting goals).  1. Get more comfortable in the swimming pool. 2. Learn to ride his bike and 3. Tie his shoes (no more Velcro, Mom. Shame on me!). And he really has done well at all these things. The pool.........while I would still worry about him in the deep end, he jumps in, goes under, and gets the swimming motion really well. He has come SO far from where he was last year.   The Bike?  Still having trouble pushing off on his own, but that has really improved. And his shoes?  Frustration still sets in from time to time, especially when I am trying to rush him in the morning, but he has got the concept down. We are going to spend this last week before school starts re-focusing on these last two things.

Also this summer at Northridge Academy, he learned all the Fruits of the Spirit, and he can successfully write and recite all the books in the New Testament.  He is now working on the Old Testament. Are you kidding me?  He is a rockstar!  I didn't get him to the Library like I wanted too, but he still liked reading magazine and an occasional book.

Okay, on to his Birthday.  We spent Friday together. Brenley had to go to school, but Beau had his Mom AND Dad's attention most of the day. We started with breakfast at IHOP. Then the boys got haircuts, came home and played a card game, then took off to a "round the clock" baseball tourney in town. I picked him up at the ballpark and we headed to the movies, only to be told it was sold out! Ugh. So he wanted to go to Exploration Place to see the Grossology exhibit, so we went there. Then we picked up sister and headed home to get ready for his first family birthday party with the Grant side. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed the time together and Beau enjoyed the presents!
Not sure if you can tell the theme of the birthday party, but just in case you missed it............our boy LOVES the WWE!!!!

Okay, so on Saturday we hit the road to Garber, Oklahoma to see Mom and Dad. We hung out there most of the day and around 4:00 we headed to Stillwater for a pizza party with all our cousins, aunts and uncles at Hideaway Pizza. YUM!  Then we went over to Troy and Lori's for a swim and trampoline bounce.  We came home Saturday night, but Beau stayed at his Grandma and Grandpa's house with his cousins and now ww are anxiously awaiting his return.

Our big boy. We just hope he enjoyed his weekend as much as we did.  We sure do love you, Beau Charles Grant. Thanks for blessing us with your spirit, love, and wit.
