George & Reba

For once, a post not about the kids..........but they still had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa while their parents went out and celebrated a belated Valentine's Day and enjoyed a country concert featured Leanne Womak, Reba, and George Strait!  Wow. After all these years, these two can still bring it. And they can attract an audience from men to women to old and young.......incredible.  Fun, fun night out enjoying some great music, and sitting in great seats......courtesy of my friends at Justin Brands!

Valentine's Day............

.......kinda came and went this year with little fanfare.

I hit Brenley's Valentine's Day party at daycare Friday morning at 10:00am, but few other parents were in attendance and their Valentine's were pre passed out to avoid the chaos - so it was a pretty subdued PAR-TAAY!

Beau's party was that afternoon at 3:00. Made it to that also, but failed to bring in the camera because I was running late and forgot!

Then Saturday Beau had a basketball game and hitting practice for baseball. Then Sunday we opened Valentine cards from each other, had a wonderful breakfast out, and then later that afternoon cuddled up ont he couch for the Daytona 500. Brian had to travel for work, so he ended up leaving later in the evening. That part was not so fun, but the weekend time together was a perfect way to celebrate Valentine's Day!

Few more things about Bren...

How could I forget that my "baby" girl LOVES her new potty. She would prefer to run around in her diaper......especially her new Dora pull-ups (which she picked out, mind you!).  It's impossible to get her clothes back on her when she wants to "use" the potty.

"Use" means sitting on it with her diaper on.......typically reading a book. This first pic is when we just got the potty out of the box. Her books immediately came out (where did she learn that from, Dad?). This second picture is from our snow day on Monday. Once she had her clothes off, there was no going back.

I'm worried this is a sign of something yet to come?!?!?
Okay, and then a few more points about her birthday. First of all, she got both of these pieces for her birthday and she wore them to school today to pass out her birthday treats and juice.  KA-UTE!

Secondly, I love books - always have.. Brenley seems to love books (especially Sponge Bob, but that's another story). And she got the cutest little girl loves shoes book from her Grandma, her Me Ma and Pa Pa got her several of those Golden Books (which were a favorite of our household growing up), her Pa Pa gave her the book, "Pigeon Wants a Puppy" and wrote a special note inside of it (Pa Pa raises show pigeons for those of you that didn't konw that fact), and my nephew Dylan made her the sweetest birthday note at school. He did it in stencils and spelled out Happy Birthday Branley (pretty good spelling of the name considering Mom wasn't around to help him!) and then it said 1+1 = 2.  I don't know, but I just thought that was the sweetest thing for him to do. And according to his Mom's note, he insisted she mail it.  It's those innocent thoughtless little things that people do that become the most thought-full and meaningful parts of our memories.

And now because of this blog......it's a forever memory. Just like the first time my daughter sat on the potty........burned in my memory forever!  She will hate this when she is 16, I am assured!

Brenley turns 2!!!

Big weekend, big day........my baby girl turned 2!!!  What a girl we have on our hands.  Charming, funny, and oh so beautiful. Can you tell I am smitten?

We went for her 2 year well check-up yesterday and she is 26 pounds and 34 inches. Skinny in my book.  Just at the national average according to doc.  Good thing cheeto's and oreo's have a lot of fat in the them!  ha ha

Brenley talks ALL the time, except when you want her to, of course.  She jabbers and jabbers, but it becomes more clear each day.  If you ask her to repeat you, she does it really well.

She can sing the alphabet and count to 10. She knows how to identify a circle, oval, square, rectangle, triangle, and heart, and is an expert at drawing a circle!!  She loves, loves to color/scribble. But she really loves her books. Sponge Bob and Elmo are at the top of her list.

And she is still the worlds best imitator. The other morning she wanted her shirt off so she could put on deodorant!  Oh, I secretly love my little shadow. She is the best little girlfriend a mama could have.  If I make sure to stock up on goldfish I can keep her in a Target shopping cart for hours!

Yesterday we also got her picture taken. Here a few of my favorites.

And today was her birthday party.  She did really great at opening presents.  She worked hard on each of them - can't you tell by her tongue action here?

Then we headed to brother's basketball game at the Y, followed by a late lunch at Freddy's with the grandparents. Perfect, perfect day.  And she's even still hanging tough tonight with a 15 minute cat nap. The two year old is ruling her day!  Atta baby, sweetheart. Thanks for a very special (and fast!) two years. You and your brother are the best thing your Daddy and I ever did and will ever do!

Brenley + Oreo's = Goodness

Cheetos............move over...........Oreo's have moved in.........

Err...........wait a minute.  Cheetos + Brenley = True Love 4 Ever.
P.S. Mom, seriously, I'm trying to eat here.  I can't be bothered with pictures.

Online Shopping Addict

So as a working mother, I am always thinking how I can create more time, reduce stress, and fit as much productivity in during nap time as humanly possible.............all in the name of spending more time with my family. And one of the things that I really like to do is ONLINE SHOPPING. The beauty of "free shipping" and "one day sale" email alerts on my ultra cool new multi-tasking Mom phone........absolutely has revolutionized my world.

Needless to say, my new goal is arriving home before my husband does as he tends to STACK my purchases altogether making it look like I have an addiction, but really it's just a busy month of birthday shopping for my daughter and special friends.  So be it...........right?!  ha ha

This stack o stuff kind of took even me by surprise, but hey - what's a multi-tasking Mom supposed to do?  Get back on the computer and order more because I need something to look forward too next week!

Harlem Globetrotters

Not a better way to spend a Friday night.......
Beau and Dad's fun time this weekend was watching the Harlem Globetrotters Friday evening in the new Intrust Bank Arena. Beau and Brian - BOTH - had another nice time together laughing and spending time with Grandpa and Uncle Kyle. I got to hear all about their funny antics as soon as Beau walked in the door.

Sister and I enjoyed our evening together too...........shopping at Target! Win, win night for all!
