Beau's Music Program

I seriously have the cutest son in the world, who isn't embarrassed to sing or dance or hum along to music. He makes my heart swell with pride.

The Maize South Elementary music program was Tuesday night - the same night as his first regular season baseball game. But he knew the right choice to make, and he went uncomplaining to his show (he had a short speaking part!) and he dressed up. Handsome, handsome Beau.

The program was about being Happy and Positive. He performed with 4th and 5th graders. He did so great, and we throughly enjoyed the evening. Now Brenley wants to go to Beau's high school and perform music on stage too. Everything that brother does.....she can do too.

Going down to center stage for his speaking part

And then after the program, we came home to clean out this birds nest that was in our grill.  It took these birds (how many we don't know) only 2 days to build this - with a closed cover. They went through the back of the grill.  Lesson learned - keep the grill cover on when not in use. Unbelievable. No eggs and no birds were harmed in this nest disposal!

Afternoon at the Zoo

So the kids and I hit the zoo Sunday afternoon and it was the best decision we made in awhile. BEAUTIFUL day. Kids were SO GOOD.  I loved every minute of it.  This was the first time I have taken my camera to the zoo, so I took a lot of animal pictures. Unfortunately, Brenley keeps reminding me that I forgot to take pictures of the Horses, Gorillas, and Hyenas.  Oh well. Next time.  Speaking of, Dad Levings, look at your calendar - we need to get you to the zoo!  You would love it!

The cute story of the day was they were having a special penguin exhibit and a zookeeper was there answering questions from the crowd projecting them over a microphone.  Beau raised his hand and asked how long do baby penguins have to wait before they can go in the water.  The lady was like, great question!  And she answered that it takes about 8 weeks for their soft furry feathers to develop into thicker downey feathers which is needed for them to float and swim. So roughly two months.  And because Beau asked a question, Brenley raised her hand and proclaimed to the lady zookeeper that penguins have feathers and that makes them waddle.  She was like, great statement and then went on to explain more about their feathers.  It was cute.

Anyway, loved my afternoon with these two sweet kids.

The Puppet Show

So remember the hound dog puppet I made a few weeks ago? Well, it was put to use today in Ms. Keiter's 3rd grade puppet show. It was held at the school this afternoon. It was really cute.  This is a short video of some of the lines that Beau had. Listen to the "fun loving dog" words toward the end.  That was him.  He sounded great. You could hear him and understand him really well.  We told him after it was over that he has a great voice for this kind of stuff.  Brenley overheard us and kept complementing him all night about his nice voice. Sweet kids.

Sorry about the picture. I was holding Brenley in the back and only had my phone camera, but you get the idea of the stage.... it was cute!

Play Ball

Tiger 8 year old kid pitch spring baseball has started!!  Preseason tournament was supposed to be last weekend, but with the storms was played last weekend and evenings of this past week. The Tigers came up short in the semi-final game. They seem to still be adjusting to the different pitchers, but it should still be a great season.

Regular season baseball opens this week!  Here we go!

Brenley quotes

She now says, "whatever" and "no problemo" in the correct context. It is really funny. But here is the kicker of the day...
All four of us are driving in the car and she proclaims loudly (as she often does), "Mom, you should not play, walk or run in the streets. It is dangerous and you could hurt yourself." I said, "Brenley May Grant, you are so smart." And she replied, "I have my moments." I thought I was going to have to pull the car over while I caught my breath on that one. And that isn't something I say on a regular basis, so there is no telling where copycat picked that one up.
She is awesome.
